MIZUNO SPORTSTYLE: Traditional Japanese Aesthetic Symbolism - WAVE RIDER 10 Introduces "Kintsugi" Elements
Following the themes of the Izu fishing village and Japanese Noh masks in the "FISHERMAN PACK" and "OMEN NOH MASK PACK" respectively, this season, the brand draws inspiration from the Japanese art of Kintsugi, which involves repairing broken ceramics, to create the WAVE RIDER 10 sneakers infused with Kintsugi elements. Kintsugi is a technique that uses lacquer combined with gold powder to mend pottery, considering the object's damage and repair as part of its history rather than concealing it. It is seen as an extension of the wabi-sabi philosophy, showcasing the aesthetics of imperfection. In the new WAVE RIDER 10, elements inspired by Kintsugi are evident. The gold lines on the RunBird logo represent the emphasis on "repair" in Kintsugi craftsmanship. Additionally, the WAVE RIDER 10 branding on the heel is treated in the same manner, while yellow accents in various parts of the shoe further highlight the theme of the sneakers.
